What is strawberry grouper?

Strawberry grouper, also known as Cephalopholis spiloparaea, is a species of fish belonging to the family Serranidae. They can be found in the western Pacific Ocean, particularly in areas such as Indonesia, Philippines, and Papua New Guinea.

These groupers have a beautiful reddish-pink coloration, hence their name "strawberry grouper". They have a rounded body shape with a slightly pointed snout and large eyes. Their fins are usually yellowish in color and may have a spotted or mottled pattern.

Strawberry groupers are carnivorous predators, feeding on a variety of small fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. They are typically found on coral reefs, rocky ledges, and other underwater structures at depths ranging from 10 to 80 meters.

These groupers are popular among commercial and recreational fishermen for their value as a food fish. However, their populations have been declining in some areas due to overfishing and habitat destruction. Conservation efforts are being implemented to protect these beautiful and important fish species.
